Water Softening Equipment (Water Softener)

Water softening equipment (water softener) is a water treatment device that removes hardness ions (primarily calcium Ca²⁺ and magnesium Mg²⁺) from water through ion exchange technology. When raw water flows through sodium-type cation exchange resin, Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺ in the water are adsorbed by the resin, while Na⁺ from the resin is released into the water, thereby reducing water hardness and preventing scaling in pipes and equipment.

When the resin becomes saturated, it must be regenerated using a sodium chloride (NaCl) solution to restore its exchange capacity. The regeneration process includes four steps: backwash, brining, displacement, and fast rinse, which can be automatically completed by an automatic control valve.

Main Components:

• Softener tank: Contains cation exchange resin; made of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) or stainless steel, corrosion-resistant and pressure-resistant

• Automatic control valve: Imported or domestic automatic control valve (flow-based or time-based) for automatic regeneration

• Brine tank: Stores salt and prepares regeneration solution

• Resin: Strong acid cation exchange resin (sodium type), e.g., 001×7

• Piping system: Inlet/outlet pipes, drain pipe, bypass valve set
